Difficult but you can make money writing blog

You are not only one who wants to make money by writing. People tell you that they earn 10 K or 20 K USD/month from their blog and you can do that, too. Do you honestly believe that!! 20K USD is far away; if they could earn even 200 K USD, they would not exhort you to sign in their blog.

You can earn money in many ways. Writing is the hardest way to make money. I have had many different kinds of jobs in the last three decades. I did some very hard physical works for the living. Writing is not hard work but turning writings into money is extremely difficult.

My first job was cleaning floors at a hospital. I worked as a dishwasher and sometimes as a bartender while studying a university.

I also ran a grocery shop for more than 2 years. I worked 14 hours a day and 7 days a week.

I worked as newspapers delivery man. I had to deliver newspapers late night door to door.

I have been working as a self-employed business consultant for the last 7 years.

I have been writing in my free time for the last one and half years. I can assure you, making money through writing is more difficult than all the jobs I mentioned above.

The cleaning job was hard but, I knew that I would get my salary at the end of the month. The newspapers delivery was very hard, too. But I could make with certainty.

Writing is not hard but making money by writing is more difficult than any other job.

You never know if you are going to make a single penny writing an article. Maybe nobody will read your article. There is no certainty at all that you can make even a dollar.

Writing is fun. But we are not here only for fun. We must have some return from writing. Many people are trying to make money while some are trying for reputation.

Writing is my hobby. But if I don’t get anything at all out of so many pieces, I write, I would better write those in my diary. I have been experimenting with different tactics for many months to earn money through writing.

I have finally succeeded to find a way to make money. As a business consultant, I advise my clients on how to make money. As a free-lance writer, I also pass on knowledge to fellow writers.

First, I tried to make money on Medium. Medium is probably the only one platform where you get paid for your stories. But it is still difficult to make any money writing on Medium. Only 10% of active writers make more than 100 USD on Medium.

I locked my stories on Medium in the hope of earning money. A couple of stories were distributed by Medium curators; I earned some money. Apart from that, I made nothing.

I started my own website and monetized it with Google Adsense. Although Google approved my site for their Ads I did not get any visitors. I used a couple of thousands dollar for SEO. But it did not help at all.

Last month I got about 5 K visitors from Medium to my own blog. I got several thousand visitors from Quora.

My blog is now generating 400/500$ in Ads revenue per month.

People will confuse by saying tons of traffic, 3K USD overnight or 20 K USD/month. Don’t believe all those stuff. There are millions of bloggers are trying hard to make money. You cannot make a fortune overnight.

If you constantly write good answers on Quora, people will click your profile and to your website. You can do the same on Medium. On limited scale, you can get traffic from Reddit.

It is possible for me to make up to $1K, maybe more. But it requires more time spending. Now, I use the maximum a couple hours daily for writing besides my job.

Half of traffics go to pages that have sexual content. I am not allowed to place Google Ads in pages that have adult sexual content. If I can find some other way to monetize those pages with adult content, my earnings will be doubled up.

For making money from your blog, you need to have some technical skills. I don’t have that. I don’t know how and where to put different codes. I could not even place Auto ads on AMP

If I had more time, I could work more on social media like Facebook and Twitter. That could increase the traffic.

Only a handful number of professional bloggers with very good writing skills can earn enough for the living. On Medium only 10% of active writers earn more than 100 USD. If you are an amateur writer like me, you cannot make any money from me.

The best thing you can do is to write your own blog and monetize it. Then use Medium and social Medias for traffic sources.

But still, there is a catch. You have to learn to get many views on Quora and Medium.. English is my third language next to Bengali and Danish. If I can get many views, you can do also.

Don’t be tempted to many silly offers for making many. Those are traps. You must use your own expertise to make money through writing.
